Does the Constitution need to be rewritten?
Why isn't the Constitution being respected? Is it the fault of the people, or is it due to weaknesses in the document itself? This video jumps into the question without tiptoeing through the daisies.

True on all counts. You've make a lot of intelligent comments on this site. I recognize the pattern because you sing them "Later fellow Nomad". Free thinkers come to similar conclusions when they are honest and do their research.
I don.t think the Constitution needs to be totally re-written...just tweaked a little here and there. The main substance of the Constitution has and will stand the test of time.
When the Supreme Court and Congress refuse to enforce what is in it, then of course it's not respected.
The fact that the majority of the public (Republic) don't even know whats in it, or understand the language used, speaks volumes about the education system in America. (by design)
We have become a society that cares more about what Hollywood stars are doing and who is going to win the Superbowl.....most are asleep !
Most of the sheep grind it out for 5 and live for 2 just to impress their neighbors, not knowing the constitution says that they don't have to pay tax on their labor.
We gave this great country away in 1913....so sad.
Found your blog just a few weeks ago, so this comment is to an old thread....
I agree that DC has long been violating the Constitution. There are only 2 cures that I am aware of: the ballot box and if that fails, the cartridge box. Unfortunately, we can not rely on the ballot box in our dumbed down, entitlement dependent, present day society; and we who understand life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are too few (5%?) to attempt correction via the cartridge box. The deficit/debt bubble will one day burst. The consequences will be terrible (and unimaginable). It will be a time of "ashes, ashes, we all fall down" and in the aftermath we who believe in life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness (no guarantees on that one) will have to step forward and forge a new society.
This is one of many letters sent to elected representatives is DC, 99.9% of my letters go unanswered, but I refuse to give up.
When are you supposed conservatives in congress going to grow a set of balls & stand up to that phony bastard in the white house? It’s so damned obvious that his sole agenda is to ruin the country that your ancestors as well as mine have fought & died for. That is all he desires, well that & taking a four year vacation on our dime to travel the world like a millionaire & letting his wife & kids also enjoy themselves in all the far away lands that most of America can only dream about. The only comparison that can be made to them in recent history is that Hussein is George Jefferson & his family are all members of the old television series called “Movin’ On Up”. The only thing that sickens me more than having to watch the fool ruin my country is having to watch you gutless bunch of congressional ne’er do wells stand still for it. Y’all just stand there & let him slap you around like a bunch of dumb ass red headed step children who are scared to death to say “boo”. Most recently, on top of all the other insults he has piled upon y’all without much objection, is telling you folks to sit down, shut up & let me do what I want when it comes to the (ha ha) 60 day limitation on the war powers act. This spineless bunch in congress may as well just tear up or burn that piece of paper with all those real men’s signature on it, you may not know which paper I’m speaking of so I’ll clue you in, it’s commonly known as the CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, have you heard of it, have you read it, do you understand what it means? Judging from your actions or the apparent lack of actions, if y’all have read it, you sure as hell don’t understand it, either that or you just don’t have any respect for it or the people who penned it & died for it. I am now 64 years old & at one time in my life (sound familiar?) I had respect for those who wrote the laws in DC but over the past few presidencies, Clinton, Bush #2 & bozObama as well as the congresses which were in session at the time, I can probably count on one hand how many of y’all I might, emphasis on MIGHT, have enough respect for to call a real man or a strong woman. I would dearly love to have the opportunity to address the full House of Representatives, but when a push comes to a shove & the truth be known, I’d most likely be asked to leave before I was finished because, like in the movie, “y’all couldn’t handle the truth” face to face or man to man/woman.
Good god, I have no rights, and I have no freedom that can not be taken from me without warning from our bought and paid for governing body. The constitution states "the right to privacy". What privacy do I have? My home may be bugged, my phone listened to, my cell phone texts, my emails, it is all recorded and sorted for "key words" all in the name of some "homeland security keeping me safe". Really?
When I read that I have the right to life, liberty and the pursut of happiness I often wonder what that really means.
Life? If I speak out and generate enough followers I can and would be either assissanated or thrown in prison. (so much for the right to freedom of speech or life)
Liberty? Oh I have liberty, I have the liberty to do what I am told to do, am expected to do so with a blind eye and the liberty to work more hours to pay more money to the governing body. If I dare stand up for my liberty I can and would be sequestered with my liberty taken from me if I rocked the boat too much.
Happiness? I have a right to be happy for a few hours each day, in between my multiple jobs in order to afford to put food on the table after I have paid most of my paychecks to the very people who spend it, who can't control their spending and require me to work more jobs to pay more fees. This happiness I am allowed while sleeping, dreaming of the life our forefathers thought they were building for us.
Does the constitution need to be re-written? No, does it need to be tweeked? No.....just accept that where it states "man" it means human being, EG: Man, Woman Child. It doesn't need to be re-written, it simply needs to be enforced.
We keep passing more and more laws that are pointless. In example:
It is against the law to murder someone!
Yet we spend billions of dollars to create laws like:
It is against the law to murder someone on good friday
It is against the law to murder somone after sunset
It is against the law to murder someone on a government holiday
It is against the law to murder someone with a butter knife
It is against the law to murder someone while operating a motor vehicle
.....
You get the point. I mean I got the point with "It is against the law to murder someone"
As an American we have no freedom. Freedom means you are free to express yourself and act in accordance as long as you harm none----you know what I mean. Freedom can not be taken away at the whim of somone who stands to earn extra money ............ everything the society in general feels they have a "right" to needs to understand that everything you have can be taken from you at a moments notice without your consent and in all honesty since Homeland Security, the government doesn't even have to have a just cause.....all they need to say are a few key words "We thought that 102 year old woman might have been running through the woods passing out poisoned apples to kill everyone".
Wake up America, if you honestly think you have any rights as a human being that can not be taken from you without cause or reason you are mistaken. Homeland Security was given a blank check to do what ever they want, how ever they want, with or without a reason......all they need is a "hunch".....it doesn't need to have documentation or even "probable cause" any more.
We have no constitutional rights, at least none that can or will be enforced in our favor-----it is in the government favor and subject the the "changing times" of their favor and whims.
Why should the Constitution be rewritten or tweaked...is it because we have those who said an oath to defend it but invariably use deception later to go along with their own ideologies? I am literally sick and tired of our politicians and the elite behind them who are playing the chessboard. The only thing I disagree about the Constitution is this...I wish it were more of a teachable document rather than just authoritative one. For starters, we could make a requirement in our school systems for graduation to have 4 years of government, Federalist papers, and economics...or should I say the Federal Reserve and monetary system (once we get the federal government out of education). I think writing letters to congress/men or women may be too passive...nothing gets done anyways. I believe the only way to curtail this is to get people elected who are honest, very knowledgeable about the Constitution, and someone who has genuine integrity beyond temptation. We need to educate the populace very soon because we won't have to worry about the Constitution because of the current trends. The Constitution was meant to protect individualism and not collectivism!

The Constitution was a good begining. Any system set up by men will, over time, be corrupted. That is inevitable. The Constitution was/is no different. The founding fathers were men, just like us, they had their own ideas just as we do today. The Constitution's main fault might lie in the weakness of the Supreme court. The court itself is political in nature and is not above politics.
Many of the offenses committed over the past two centuries have occured through the courts weakness, it should be, in my opinion, the most powerful of the branches, but because of it's limitations has been a mere spectator. It should be a chain around the kneck of the other branches, keeping executive power at bay and calling the congress to task for it's treasons.
Do we need another Constitutional Congress? Obviously. Maybe after the crisis is over and men can live together and cooperate there will be.
The Constitution was created to protect men from other men and from themselves and their own lusts for power, this it has not done and now we have democratic mob-rule.
Take heart, what did John Adams say? "I study politics and war so that my son may, someday, study Math and Science, and his son Art and Poetry" Something like that.

P/S Ever wonder why neo-cons call it a dead document? More dead than they know I think.
