I don't have time right at this moment to recap the entire discussion that led up to me bringing up this verse, but the essence of the conversation was on whether god is a separate entity which is outside of time and creates the universe from the outside, or whether by inference being beyond time points to a single being which is the truth self of all beings. I don't really use the bible as a point of reference for my view of god, so my use of the bible is purely for pointing out the points in the bible that contradict the established assumptions that Christianity takes for granted. I used Psalms 82 verse 6 because it states something in clear language that most Christians would never believe could be found in the bible: The idea that there are other gods that are holy, and that we ourselves are actually gods but are unaware of the fact.
I will post the King James version of the verse here so that we can refer to it.
1 God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods.
2 How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah.
3 Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.
4 Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.
5 They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.
6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.
