This video is very interesting to me. When living in Germany, I noticed how "gehorsam" (obedient, especially to authority) the average German was. It was my observation of the average German's gehorsamseit (obedience) that led me to understand how Hitler could murder millions of innocents. Let's hope Americans have the same rebellious blood coursing through their hearts as that of our Founding Fathers.

This video was very painful for me to watch.

I have met many survivors of the Nazi Camps of WWII, and I have heard some relate their experiences. Some could not speak of it. One thing I noted in most was a deep sense of betrayal.

There was a sense of anger and rage against their oppressors and potential murderers, sometimes even the guards who tortured them and kept watch over them. But more deeply, many expressed a profound sense of betrayal toward the common person down the street, their employer, neighbor, city official, who exposed them or tricked them into being found, people who turned them away in their most desperate moments of flight and survival.

It seemed in so many conversations such a wound to have been denied simple human kindnesses, some large, others small, but all acts that would have kept them from being detained and imprisoned.

I am an American living in the UK for the last decade. In these times of 'economic austerity budget cuts' it is the poorest, the disabled, the youth, and the most vulnerable who are being disadvantaged the most.

Those most on the edges of society are further dis-empowered, marginalized, and further impoverished by the budget cuts. Already living below the poverty line, these individuals are facing 60% cuts in their incomes, having their housing benefits reduced or withdrawn; patients undergoing chemotherapy are being told that they are 'fit for work'; those receiving 60 pounds per week in unemployment required to 'volunteer' 30 hours a week to 'earn' their unemployment benefit. Elderly in hospital being denied medical treatment, not because they are too frail for treatment, but because it is deemed a waste of the public purse to give medical treatment to those over a certain age.

To add to these woes on the poor, the vulnerable and the marginalized, a new campaign has just been launched by Crime Stoppers: catch benefit cheats. While figures are quoted of the financial amount of waste by benefit fraud, figures are misleading because they include administrative mistakes in making payments when none should be made, or over payments of the correct amount (millions).

Of course, there is no consequence for those who wrongfully accuse someone of benefit fraud (and they may do so anonymously), but members of the public are being encouraged to point out those cheating the system, because it is "good for the country".

Your video reminds me that history repeats; we have not yet learned.

@syx - powerful video, and powerful reply. It's always so much easier to blame the weak, the unable; and oh, how little power the great tyrant would have, if it weren't for the millions of "little people"... quietly turning their backs on their fellow human beings (often in little ways, every day) because it's EASIER than standing out from the crowd.
